LAURA HORTON
Human Resources Director
Laura Horton joined CSBDF in 2023 as the Human Resources Director. She has over 20 years of Human Resources, nonprofit, and small business experience. Laura began her career in Human Resources at the University of North Carolina at Chapel-Hill and most recently worked with the Institute for Medical Research, a Veteran’s Affairs affiliated nonprofit for over a decade where she served as the Human Resources Director.
She has extensive knowledge of HR compliance, talent acquisition, retention, employee relations, and contracts and grants administration. Laura managed a family business for 15 years and is where she developed a passion for small business. Laura holds a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Central University. Originally from Apex, NC, she enjoys camping, boating, and spending time with family and friends.
